Adjective Worksheets

Adjective worksheets for upper elementary grades will help the students identify adjectives and the nouns they modify. There are three worksheets, each on a different level. 

Adjective Worksheets

The first level of the worksheets is for students who already know a bit about adjectives and their functions. This could serve as a review for more advanced students. 

MONSTER ADJECTIVES - Level 1

A. DIRECTIONS: Underline all the adjectives in this paragraph. HINT: There are 20.

Scary monsters are found everywhere. Some are frightening and some are strange. There are enormous, hairy monsters, and small, fuzzy monsters. Some are imaginary, like angry trolls that live in dark, damp caves or under old, wooden bridges. Others live in dense, overgrown forests and eat slimy, disgusting food.  Monsters can be green, red, or black.   

B.  DIRECTIONS: Write the noun that is modified by at least one adjective.

1. __________ Sometimes, we imagine little monsters that are vicious and mean.
2. __________ Goblins might be mischievous or want to play.
3. __________ In fairy tales, there are hungry giants that eat people.

Sports Adjectives - Level 2

This second level of the adjective worksheets will involve more creative writing in addition to practicing locating adjectives.

A. DIRECTIONS: Underline all adjectives and circle the noun they modify. HINT: There are 20 adjectives in all.

1. Soccer is fast and exciting.
2. Football has defensive teams and offensive teams.
3. Sometimes the weather is cold and snowy when people snowboard.
4. Skiing is exhilarating and dangerous.
5. You need a strong, muscular body to be good at sports.
6. A favorite sport of Americans is baseball, which has a grassy outfield.
7. Athletes need nutritious foods and healthy snacks.
8. Sports are beneficial and fun. 
9. You need great reflexes and an agile body to study martial arts.
10. People who play tennis wear white clothes to reflect the hot sun.

B. DIRECTIONS: Write a sentence using each adjective.

Amazing Adjectives - Level 3

This last worksheet covers different kinds of adjectives.
